"Angela!" Esther shoos the last two women away from the wreckage and towards the gathered crowd, diving in to find her friend. She weaves her way through the billowing dust and crumbling brick and steelwork. She can hear the sirens of the first responders approaching.
"Angela! Talk to me, damn it!"

The vitae curls around Angela's splintering bones and sliced skin, mending both swiftly. Her muscles stiffen and a tense chill grips her: the rigor mortis that Kindred know so well and for so long. No one comes for her - no one but Esther. The imperious Daeva draws Angela's attention, giving her the focus she needs to act. The shrill shriek of sirens grows louder with every moment, and the two would need to flee now to avoid undue attention. The dust is already settling - but where is Aodhfin?

"Esther." Angela's voice was a weak echo against the falling metal and stone as the sirens whined closer and closer. They could be here when the cops arrived and Angela didn't want to spend any time in a cell when the sun came up.
"I'm alright. Just get the people back, and then get out of here." Angela pulled her legs from the broken rubble trying to find a way through the fallen debris. The dust started to settle and As Angela crawled closer to the near by escape, the metal started to moan again, threatening to drop more heavy debris. She moved faster, only able to low crawl her way through as she ducked planks of metal and stone.
As the sirens blared closer, Angela pulled herself from what was left of the tower, blood staining her clothing, the side of her face lined with dried blood. The crowd had gather on the other side of the chaos. She could escape if she hurried.

"The people are back and away. You are my concern now," Esther replies, heaving broken framework off to the side, screened by the dust and smoke.
She reaches for her friend's arm. "Time to disappear," she tells Angela, her intent clearly to speed them away from the chaos as she moves them through the thronging crowd.

As the air spun around her in a fuel of speed, Angela felt a rush of relief as they escaped the custody of humans. She gripped at Esther, her hands clung to the woman's body like a life raft. Blood smeared against the Daeva's freshly pressed clothing, the young Venture had been pouring out blood, but now seemed healed, if not a bit weak.
"Thank you. I don't think I could have been.... crushed a second time." Angela pressed a hand to near by wall, taking balance.
"I don't know what the hell happened, but I'm going to find out. Christ... all those people..." Angela held her side as she muscle were a bit sore if not healed completely.

Esther helped Angela into her car, moving in the opposite direction of the sirens. "We're going home, come on," she said gently, though her jaw tightens a bit at Angela's bemoaning of the people crushed in the wreckage and debris. A tremor of emotion threatened to crumble her beautiful face as she climbed into the car with Angela.
"This is my fault. On my soul," she could not help but murmur as she started the car and pulled them out and away from the Village and campus.

"Don't do that to yourself, Esther. We don't know what caused this. But I know it wasn't you. Something.. a shadow...another kindred. But it wasn't your fault." Angela watched as her friend struggled with the emotion burden of guilt.
"Do you understand? You didn't hurt anyone you didn't violate the masquerade." Angela's voice was low, taking her time to speak as if talking too much would cause her pain.
"Focus on that and keep it in prospective."

Esther just swallowed in reply to Angela's words, her attempt at comfort - while appreciated - doesn't quite penetrate. Not yet.
"Rest, Angela. We will get back to the house and I will help you finish healing up," she told her friend as they made their way to the north side of Muncie.
"We will have to look for Aodhfin tomorrow, and I will deal with Jeremy and that fundy bitch," she also growled behind her teeth.

Angela only nodded, too tired to fight it.
She leaned into the leather bucket seats, smooth and cool against her hot flesh. Blood staining the fine leather, coating the small space with the smell of vitae.

As the scent of vitae filled her car, Esther bit down on her tongue, hard. She would have her car detailed, the seats reupholstered. Damn it, she'd have the car crushed and buy a new one.
"Don't worry, Angela. I have you," she said softly, getting them home as quickly as possible.

As the dust settles, the chaos stirs all the more. The area screams with sirens, and the seething press of police and EMTs is dwarfed by the gawkers. Muncie's late night news coverage is filled with bleeding faces, hysterical and confused. The news cycle's spin is, of course, sensational speculation, with terrorism at the top of the list of imagined causes of the collapse. But terrorism or not, with eight people dead the story will be all over the Internet and national news.
Later that evening, a police spokesperson releases a statement:
"Our initial investigations show no evidence of explosives at the scene, and there is also no evidence of domestic or foreign terrorism. Our immediate and rigorous investigations have identified corrosion in key support structures, and our experts are confident that this corrosion caused the collapse."
"As the supports gave out in a domino effect, the top of the tower shifted dramatically, destroying the structure. Ball State is cooperating with authorities to get to bottom of the cause of the excessive weathering, and to determine responsibility for this tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased, and Ball State University is immediately providing grief counseling for anyone affected by this tragic event..."
