It was winter and the sunset a little after five pm on a Saturday. Quinn woke up, took a leisurely bath and got dressed. She had most of the decorations made and food ready, she just had to warm everything up. She walked into the kitchen put the food in the oven and gathered the decorations and headed outside. Jazz music filled the air as she began to set up and carefully lit the multiple fire pits in the yard with a extra long kindling stick. Once the backyard was set up she went back inside to check on the food and drinks. An hour after she placed the food in the oven she checked on it and they were perfect. She had made a meal for everyone to enjoy while they mingled. The main course? A choice of pot pie or vegetarian flatbread pizza with sun dried tomato pesto rolls. Desert was a choice of three things; mini cheesecakes, apple crisp and popcorn with different drizzles to choose from. Apple sangria and red wine for the adults, laced with vitae. For others and children cola and sprite. Even the cola was spiked with vitae. You never knew when you might need a kids help. She had posted signs around the block two weeks ago and even one in her own yard. She needed to meet her neighbors, get some information and a few close ghouls. She wasn't a fan of them as she was one herself, but she needed assurance and protection. Plus she would treat them way better than she was treated, they would be able to live their own regular lives. It was now seven pm and she waited in her decorated backyard for her guests to arrive, the dogs sniffing around as a light dusting of snow began to fall.

The plush snow flakes tickled the little girl's lashes, her giggles sweet as Christmas bells in the night air. Bethy held out her hand to catch a large flake in her hands, fingers snug and warm in a lush fluffy mitten. Anna beamed, arm and arm with her husband, Michael, who's smile reached his eye in joy of his family. He guided is family through the dusty snow walks. The Wilsons braved the chilly weather, in the spirit of meeting their new neighbor. They were a quaint; a typical middle class family with simple pleasures and enjoyments. "Bethy. Keep up, please." Anna chuckled as her little angel caught a snow flake on her tongue and danced in celebration. "Have you heard anything about our new neighbor?" Michael was curious as he guided his daughter up the steps. Bethy raced to ring the door bell. Anna smiled, kissing Michael gently on the cheek. "That's why where here. To meet our new neighbor." Anna had made a delicious dark chocolate raspberry cream pie as an ice breaker. Nothing said welcome like pie. Bethy swayed back and forth humming, "Holy Night” and trying to contain her excitement. Car lights lit up the drive way, as more neighbors started to arrive, the snow falling heavy as the Wilson’s waited to be invited in to their neighbor's home.

Anna held out the pie and smiled, "Hello. Thank you for inviting us to your home." The family walked the path to the backyard and was greeted by a beautiful sight. Holiday decorations glittered in the light as the food, beautifully displayed, warmed Anna's stomach as she longed to have a taste.
Bethy ran ahead wanting very much to play with the dogs, cheerful giggles an endless trail of joy. Michael pulled his scarf from his neck and tucked it into his jacket pocket as he took in the sight before them. As other families circled the yard, he finally whispered in his wife's ear, "go meet and greet and I'll watch Bethy." Anna smiled and kissed him on the nose. Michael gave her a loving smile before kissing her full and warm. He wasn't much for public affection, but Anna looked too good to resist. She blushed, but smiled just the same. As she walked off, Michael's doubts about tonight were washed away.
Soon, Bethy was running with few of the neighbor kids and playing energetically about the yard.

Some may recognize her face, as she was a beauty model before He got ahold of her. However she had to change her specialization due to her scars, some who followed her knew of the kidnapping. It was her modeling nature that helped her entertain, she loved it. The seducing of a crowd, the small moments alone. When she was having a good day entertaining was her love...well her third love. Him and drugged pain were the others.
She accepted the pie "Oh you didn't have to do this. But it smells amazing." she says warmly and walks with them to the backyard. The evening was cool but many enclosed fire pits dotted the yard and a few fanned space heaters near the porch. "I thought this was be the best way to meet my neighbors and a good excuse for a party." her cheeks bright and rosy.

Anna watched as Michael enjoyed the snowflakes with Bethy, before chasing her around the yard.
"It's a beautiful display, Quinn." Anna didn't react to Quinn's scars. The young woman assumed she had acquired them though painful means and left it at that. She pulled her shoulder wrap around her bare neck, the chilly air only nipping at her ankles.
"Any excuse to entertain and throw a party." She chuckled softly, genuine her in enjoyment. "So, Quinn. Where are you from? Muncie isn't a city many move to, unless they are attending Ball State. Are you student?"
Anna was beaming with curiosity, her bright blue eyes alive with excitement in meeting a new neighbor.

"No." she smiles "I use to live in big cities for a long time and now I want to try a smaller one." she says and looks around at the gathered herd. She loved to entertain "I'm a model of sorts and thought somewhere no one knew me might be nice."
"How about you? Did you grow up here?" she asks then looks out towards her husband.

Anna smiled her face flushing in the company of a model. It wasn't everyday she got to meet a celebrity. She tucked a blonde lock behind her ear, "I grew up near Muncie, Micheal teaches at the University and Ball State brought together. Muncie has become part of our lives, small but quaint. I've never enjoyed the large cities. Mostly we go to Indianapolis for Colts games, and trips to the zoo." Anna glanced at Bethy and beamed proudly at her daughter.
"Bethy really likes your dogs." She chuckled as the Bethy chased the smalls one around.

"Does she like cats as well? If so I have a huge surprise inside to show her." Quinn says "Would you care for something to eat? Perhaps a drink?" she asks but watches her guard dogs play with the small child. It did warm her still heart, her dogs were her companions. Her constant and it made her smile to see them enjoying themselves.

"Bethy loves animals." Anna nodded and followed Quinn into the house.
"Plus I'd love a drink. Bethy, come inside for a moment." Bethy didn't seem to hear her over the excitement of her own enjoyment. Michael was playing as if he too were a child; having fun in the winter evening.
Anna rolled her eyes playfully, "sorry, Quinn. Your lovely dogs have her very much entertained. But I'd love to see your home."

With a bright smile and laughter in those dual colored eyes "Just a warning, its pretty eccentric." And she opens the back porch door to the stainless steel kitchen . She walks to the fridge and pulls out a clear carafe quickly, shutting the door. She grabs two tumblers and pours the liquid. "Here give this a try. Its an apple sangeria, I found the recipe online." And hands her one of the glasses. She takes a drink and lazily walks around the kitchen so the young woman can look around before they meander farther into the house.

Anna smiles at the first sip, "this apple sangria is delicious, thank you." She fallowed Quinn into the house taking the visuals. It was a bit eccentric. "I love the stainless steal, Quinn and the fire pit is a wonderful touch." Anna could feel the heat drifting through the kitchen, the warmth pressing against her skin.
She felt flushed a bit and discarded the wrap she wore, her skin as pale as the winter's kiss. "I love this painting, Quinn." She gestured to the colored canvas leaning against the wall. "It's so wild but but eh blues give it a calming tone." She sipped her glass again as she threatened to drink the full glass already.

"Thanks. I have been looking at a few small art pieces for the upstairs hallway." she says and pours a glass of apple sangria for herself and refills Anna's glass. "If you like it I can give you the recipe, it taste great as a non alcoholic drink. An interesting juice drink for kids." she says and walks into the most eclectic room in the house. The living room "and this is the living room. I love the couch and chair. However I think having both may be too much. What do you think?" she asks standing next to Anna with her hand on the small of her back.

She smiled and felt her face grow warm again. Anna ran her hand over the colorful couch, her newly filled glass chilling in her hand. "I love the color and the pop. Beats the norm of black and brown. Besides, nothing wrong with excitement and bit of eccentric decor." Anna sat on the couch and sipped her drink. Her eyes flew around the room, taking in the artwork and the colors.
"It reminds me of Alice In Wonderland." She leaned back and enjoyed this escape. While her life was everything she cold dream, she had never given herself a chance to envision another life.
"You must have lived an exciting life as a model." Anna turned and looked to Quinn.

"Hectic is how I would describe it, but unbelievably fun." she says taking a seat beside Anna. She looks at her with a smile "How would you like to come with me on the next photo shoot? My work now is pretty abstract and goth but I think you would have fun." she asks.
"With your looks, they may even use you." she adds tucking Anna's hair behind her ear and looking her in the eyes.
