The following is just a short collection of information, updated information and a real story will be following shortly!
TL:DR version • Kindred went to sleep to avoid conflict, and let the scary members of society deal with everything. • Society didn't collapse, but it is weaker and the immediate areas are more important • Power vacuums, yo
What Happened Did Requiem Society collapse and become a dull shadow of our past? Not quite. There was no large reckoning or flames of heavenly light that came down to scorch the kindred and burn them out of their holes. Kindred Society went into hiding, not all the members but enough. The threats of the VII, Brood, Stryx, and other dangers finally became too much and most kindred opted to do what kindred are renowned for ... out lasting their enemies. As the majority slept or hid away, it gave a chance to the more physically-minded kindred to do what they do best and destroy the threats facing them at that time.
So what were the consequences of this little action for kindred society? While it does survive, it is weakened and rebuilding. Large houses and groups are in shambles as some members waken and others remain asleep. Power vacuums are created and new people step up to fill the holes left by the most intimidating presences known to kindred. Communication hasn't stopped, but it has become much more important to focus on the local than worry about surrounding or distance covens of kindred (survival of the fittest).

The City's History
The large majority of Muncie's kindred history is known to only a tiny few of its residents. Perhaps they will divulge their secrets, perhaps not.
Muncie, incorporated in 1865, was an extremely small community until about 1888 when natural gas was discovered in Delaware County. By 1900 the population in the County had grown to nearly 50,000 people, 20,000 of whom resided in Muncie itself. This is when Muncie earned its nickname the Magic City because the city grew like...well, magic.
In 1901 the first vampire arrived in town. Attracted by the reputation Muncie had as a free and easy city, this Lord and his odd family found their appetites satiated among the migrants even as these workers celebrated their newfound wealth in the rapidly growing stable of bars. The Lord also set about inserting himself, and his vast stores of money and influence, into the local community, building steel mills and migrant housing and setting up education funds. Later on, this family, now known as the Villains to kindred society (knowns as the Quincies to mortal society), would have their fingers in almost every lucrative pie in the city. Nothing happened in the city that the Lord didn’t know about. How can you not with half a dozen ghouls?
This Lord and his family lived in solitude until 1937 when others began to arrive. The new arrivals largely ignored the eccentric Lord, as he did them, and set about establishing themselves. 1976 saw the first formation of an official court in the city, with a loud, upstart Ventrue by the name Jeremy Lowell as Prince. His somewhat tempestuous rule lasted for 10 years (mainly because no one else wanted the target on their back...yet), until one fateful night, when he gave into his own madness and burned his own haven down. He claimed that little men were scratching around in his walls and he needed to clean them out. Perhaps they were. How many ghouls would it take to drive a vampire mad, after all? After that, the court of Muncie largely fell into quiet disuse for the next few years.
Meanwhile, there was also a quiet (and sometimes not-so-quiet) battle going on between the Invictus Lord and his family and the local Carthians. Legend has it that, finally, the Lord took the head of the Carthians in Muncie and closed her up into the Spirit of Muncie statue that now graces the fork of Walnut and Granville and has for years. The stories also say that when her childe later came to avenge her and failed, he was torpored and then, later, he was shut up in The Passage of the Buffalo statue at the new downtown roundabout by Villain’s childe-wife and other family members.
In 2005, the Lord created his own court in the void of Kindred politics. Prince Lucien Villain (ironically, anointed by Bishop Conrad Van der Haas) ruled Muncie, creating a Victorian society largely populated by his own family. Others were welcome of course, but rabble was either ignored on the whole, or turned away at the door if they were not “good” enough to be seen by the new Prince and his family. Thanks to a great deal of inter-region squabbles and the attempts of others to garner position by destroying those around them, the fledgling court smoldered within two years. Muncie has not seen such finery since.
On the coattails of the Villain family’s reign, a new court was formed in late 2007 from the so-called “rabble”, the Carthians swooping in "claim their due" after so many years of of being bested by the Villain family. The new court ran as smoothly as one could make it, until interlopers from nearby cities decided to meddle in local politics, and stir up the passions of several local Kindred, the Old Family included. The Villains once again moved to take control of the city in late 2008, this time the “son” stepping into the deceased Lord’s place. However, very soon afterward, the Villains’ mansion went up in flames, along with its four main members. They are believed to be dead and gone, the end of an era, and the city staggers forward.
In 2009, Iris d’Anges Visconti, last seen in Muncie as the ghoul of Emmanuel de Vries, swept in and charmed the city to her side. Beloved of the old ways of elegance and poise, Iris worked to restore Muncie to its former glory as well as solidify her place within the Lancea Sanctum, recently anointed as an Archbishop of the covenant. She brought unity to the city, until late October when her life was taken by occultists. The Carthians once again held Muncie in their grasp, doing their absolute best under their Sheriff-Prince Jonathan Dashel to stabilize the city and make it clear that Muncie shall not be somewhere for other domains and states to wipe their feet. Muncie is a city of her own and can stand on her own two feet, regardless of the stupidity of others.
In June of 2010, an agreement was negotiated, reached, and voted upon by the Council of Muncie. As a result, Lord Protoculus of the Invictus took over as Prince of the city, whilst Dash retained his position as Sheriff and several other privileges beside. Protoculus has kept on the Council and makes certain to bring large decisions of court to them for voting. The city has remained stable and might even be slowly developing into a force to be reckoned with.
In October of 2010, it was announced than an Imperium had been formed in Indiana between Muncie, Indianapolis, and Kokomo. Alder Protoculus ruled as Imperator and each city had a Steward in charge of its care, upkeep, and minding. Muncie had Fallon McCraig in that position, as Kokomo had Favian de Marquis. Indianapolis was still in process of choosing a Steward for that city. After a few months as Steward Fallon McCraig stepped away from the position, which was filled by Viscount Liah Stavros.

The Story we are currently going off of is in the works as we speak, and will be up within the next day or two. At this moment, considering how the Poll vote went, Requiem Society is not the exact same nor did it collapse. The society of Requiem went into hiding with several kindred choosing to step away from the lime light or going into Torpor to 'wait everything out'. This is not the "end of times", but it is also not the most thriving period for Kindred.
