Elias stepped out from the streets and into the Chicago Theater. A simple black suit adorned his frame this evening as he was not looking to stand out as much as make the appropriate gesture at formalities. There was a small lapel that denoted his membership among the Sanctified and it too was subtle. Elias saw no need to be flashy or advertise what most would easily deduce within a few hours (or minutes if the Kindred in question was truly inclined). His time here was measured and he took all precautions to make the most effective use of it. He took once glance at his watch to affirm the time before adjusting the cuffs of his suit jacket as he observed those Kindred that were in attendance this evening.
All Kindred if not most were foreign to Elias as he was to this Domain its Court. He took an unnecessary breath and exhaled as he continued on his ways towards one Mistress Justine Lasky. Eva had done well in briefing him on all the pedigree information that was necessary to spot the Daeva but the line of newcomers and those seeking her favor made her easy to spot.
Elias patiently waited his turn to be acknowledge before he presented himself before the Mistress of Elysium, herself. He took a couple of steps forward but kept a respectable distance away and performed a small bow, his eyes kept focus just below hers in deference as he began to speak,
"Mistress Lasky, I am Elias Castillo of the Second Estate. I hope the missive I had sent earlier announcing my arrival found you well. As stated, I have come of my own will and can have the Kindred presiding over the Court of New York vouch for my conduct during my stay there. I announce my presence and fealty to the Lord Prince, to follow and uphold the Traditions that have been set before all Kindred, and to participate and assist in all manners as would be my duty within his Domain. I also vow, Mistress Lasky, to conduct myself in the most appropriate matter in all establishments declared as Elysium during my stay in this Domain."
He paused but for a moment. It was short enough for him to proceed without seeming to interrupt what she may reply with but long enough for the sincerity in his words to be observed by the rest of the Kindred who were present during his introduction.
"...With the blessing of the Court, I would like to continue my residency within the Domain and am at its mercy." His eyes remained calm and in deference. Her reply now would judge how the remainder of his evening; more importantly, of his stay would go.

"How wonderful, darling. Truly." Justine's sultry eyes examine Elias, her attentions falling on him like moonlight. She had listened intently, smiling her approval at just the right moments - his display of deferential bearing, his respectable references, his vows of fealty. He would surely not be a troublemaker. No, he would be quite useful.
She extends a warm hand in greeting. "Welcome, Mister Castillo. I am delighted - simply delighted - to have you join us." She looks to one side, hearing a strange whispering. She blinks, and returns her full attention to the creepy-yet-courteous gentleman. "May I ask what brings you to Chicago?" Her tone is gentle, even caring.

Elias took the Daeva's hand and bows respectfully, kissing the back of her hand with equal reverence before releasing her it and standing upright. "A combination of things, Mistress Lasky. The reign of our Lord Prince is something more familiar to one who comes from the Old Country, himself." He offered a disarming smile before continuing, "...and my area of expertise lies within history; in more recent times, Kindred history. It would be of great importance to be present and experience history firsthand."
He took a step back and put a hand to upon his breast, "I am also aware that Second Estate relations have not been what they once were in this domain, but I wish to assist in mending any such rifts should the appropriate parties be willing."
His intentions spoken and now it was only a matter of waiting for the next move...

Several onlookers wince or even chuckle slightly at Elias apparent misstep, as the scholar addresses her as Mistress: a term reserved in the Invictus for fledgling females. But in her role as protector-enforcer of Elysium, that is how she ought to be addressed. Their laughter exposes their own ignorance of how much things had changed in The Second City, and earns them special spots on her list.
She graciously smiles at the man, but he senses how much the dismissive laughter grates on her. "Our exalted Prince surely is a monumental figure, Mister Castillo, and in his countless centuries he has both witnessed and wrought much history. Perhaps some evening, you may make some study of his unique perspective. A greater association between the First and Second would be to the advantage of all, as this city we share shines ever brighter each night."
"How curious it is," she continues, eying her detractors, "when some are blind to history in the making. In your studies, is this a common thing?"

Elias kept his eyes focused upon Lasky and no other. He was a Haunt; was used to the stigma that would follow him throughout the remainder of his existence. Perhaps they distrusted him or loathed him for what he was but he took it in stride. He adjusted his glasses and clasped his hands together drowning out the crowd for now...
"I would be honored for such an opportunity." He paused long enough to give a small once over the crowd. "...unfortunately, it is a common occurrence I've been met with during my travels. I must also say that there is a direct correlation between those that choose remain ignorant of knowledge and those that are quickly forgotten as time passes by."
He then allowed his features to soften and eventually break into a smile, "It is then a reason why I am made available to our Lord Prince and those that compose his Court should anyone wish to discuss any matter regarding the subject."

Justine smiles at the scholar's sharp tongue, quite as sharp as his wits. So many intelligent men lacked such dexterity, and she makes a note of it. Elias might imagine that she keeps a ledger on some shelf, where she logs each and every point won or lost. She may not be the Harpy, but she surely has sharp claws beneath her manicured nails.
"I shall be sure to inform our Lord Prince that such a historian is at his command. Knowledge is power, as every fledgeling must quickly learn." Or else. The crowd tenses at the implication of what happens to the ignorant. Either Kindred would change with the times, or they would crumble into pillars of irrelevant ash in the wind. Pleased, she offers her hand to the Haunt, and slips him a card for The Discarded Image, an Elysium and bar not far away.
"Good evening, Mister Castillo. I look forward to our next conversation with great anticipation."
