Plot & Setting
1. Characters & Requiem
As most of us know, the Requiem Chronicle in the Camarilla was a bit confusing at times. It could be frustrating, unfair, and sometimes just down right impossible to participate in. It could also be wondrous, amazing, and a fun experience. It really depended who was in control at the time and what events were going on. For some of us we carried on through the good and bad, others were taken down by those same forces, some of us killed our own characters, or retired them out of frustration.
We are changing all of that!
A. If your character died in chronicle, decide what actually happened for this forum. Instead of death, were they put into torpor and hidden away? Did they fake their own death and just slip away from society? Did the character get kidnapped and tortured for information, only to escape recently? The decision is yours, include this part in your profile history.
B. If your character was retired, decide what they have been up to this entire time. Did they travel the world, peering into the depths of the occult and come out a new person? Were they in Tahiti, kicking it with blue guys? The decision is yours, include this part in your profile history.
C. Did you make it to the end of chronicle, only to fade away to black? If your character did this, feel free to change their history around that point so it better reflects your character now being back in game. The decision is yours, include this part in your profile history.
2. What happened to Muncie & The World?
This part is covered in the poll above, there are four options for players to choose from. The option with the most votes will be used for the explanation of why some things are different, such as not being able to communicate with certain other kindred around the world. The option with the second most votes may be considered in some way. All of the options are explained below in more detail.
On Sunday, voting will be closed!
A. Retcon for the characters, but everything else remains! • Characters who died or left are brought back, and nothing else changes. Characters they were attached to will not be played, and resources (boons, et cetera) from those characters count for nothing.
B. Retcon for the characters, other PCs around the world have vanished! • Characters who died or left are brought back, and the PCs they relied on or knew around the globe have mysteriously vanished. There are other kindred out there, but most kindred from the chronicle are dead for some reason or another.
C. Requiem Society has collapsed, leading to a loss in global community! • The Requiem world has changed significantly. Communication out of city is rare, and out of state is almost unheard of anymore. The cause is unknown, as of yet, but the Kindred world now mirrors a Mad Max style outside of city lines (free for all).

The City's History
The large majority of Muncie's kindred history is known to only a tiny few of its residents. Perhaps they will divulge their secrets, perhaps not.
Muncie, incorporated in 1865, was an extremely small community until about 1888 when natural gas was discovered in Delaware County. By 1900 the population in the County had grown to nearly 50,000 people, 20,000 of whom resided in Muncie itself. This is when Muncie earned its nickname the Magic City because the city grew like...well, magic.
In 1901 the first vampire arrived in town. Attracted by the reputation Muncie had as a free and easy city, this Lord and his odd family found their appetites satiated among the migrants even as these workers celebrated their newfound wealth in the rapidly growing stable of bars. The Lord also set about inserting himself, and his vast stores of money and influence, into the local community, building steel mills and migrant housing and setting up education funds. Later on, this family, now known as the Villains to kindred society (knowns as the Quincies to mortal society), would have their fingers in almost every lucrative pie in the city. Nothing happened in the city that the Lord didn’t know about. How can you not with half a dozen ghouls?
This Lord and his family lived in solitude until 1937 when others began to arrive. The new arrivals largely ignored the eccentric Lord, as he did them, and set about establishing themselves. 1976 saw the first formation of an official court in the city, with a loud, upstart Ventrue by the name Jeremy Lowell as Prince. His somewhat tempestuous rule lasted for 10 years (mainly because no one else wanted the target on their back...yet), until one fateful night, when he gave into his own madness and burned his own haven down. He claimed that little men were scratching around in his walls and he needed to clean them out. Perhaps they were. How many ghouls would it take to drive a vampire mad, after all? After that, the court of Muncie largely fell into quiet disuse for the next few years.
Meanwhile, there was also a quiet (and sometimes not-so-quiet) battle going on between the Invictus Lord and his family and the local Carthians. Legend has it that, finally, the Lord took the head of the Carthians in Muncie and closed her up into the Spirit of Muncie statue that now graces the fork of Walnut and Granville and has for years. The stories also say that when her childe later came to avenge her and failed, he was torpored and then, later, he was shut up in The Passage of the Buffalo statue at the new downtown roundabout by Villain’s childe-wife and other family members.
In 2005, the Lord created his own court in the void of Kindred politics. Prince Lucien Villain (ironically, anointed by Bishop Conrad Van der Haas) ruled Muncie, creating a Victorian society largely populated by his own family. Others were welcome of course, but rabble was either ignored on the whole, or turned away at the door if they were not “good” enough to be seen by the new Prince and his family. Thanks to a great deal of inter-region squabbles and the attempts of others to garner position by destroying those around them, the fledgling court smoldered within two years. Muncie has not seen such finery since.
On the coattails of the Villain family’s reign, a new court was formed in late 2007 from the so-called “rabble”, the Carthians swooping in "claim their due" after so many years of of being bested by the Villain family. The new court ran as smoothly as one could make it, until interlopers from nearby cities decided to meddle in local politics, and stir up the passions of several local Kindred, the Old Family included. The Villains once again moved to take control of the city in late 2008, this time the “son” stepping into the deceased Lord’s place. However, very soon afterward, the Villains’ mansion went up in flames, along with its four main members. They are believed to be dead and gone, the end of an era, and the city staggers forward.
In 2009, Iris d’Anges Visconti, last seen in Muncie as the ghoul of Emmanuel de Vries, swept in and charmed the city to her side. Beloved of the old ways of elegance and poise, Iris worked to restore Muncie to its former glory as well as solidify her place within the Lancea Sanctum, recently anointed as an Archbishop of the covenant. She brought unity to the city, until late October when her life was taken by occultists. The Carthians once again held Muncie in their grasp, doing their absolute best under their Sheriff-Prince Jonathan Dashel to stabilize the city and make it clear that Muncie shall not be somewhere for other domains and states to wipe their feet. Muncie is a city of her own and can stand on her own two feet, regardless of the stupidity of others.
In June of 2010, an agreement was negotiated, reached, and voted upon by the Council of Muncie. As a result, Lord Protoculus of the Invictus took over as Prince of the city, whilst Dash retained his position as Sheriff and several other privileges beside. Protoculus has kept on the Council and makes certain to bring large decisions of court to them for voting. The city has remained stable and might even be slowly developing into a force to be reckoned with.
In October of 2010, it was announced than an Imperium had been formed in Indiana between Muncie, Indianapolis, and Kokomo. Alder Protoculus ruled as Imperator and each city had a Steward in charge of its care, upkeep, and minding. Muncie had Fallon McCraig in that position, as Kokomo had Favian de Marquis. Indianapolis was still in process of choosing a Steward for that city. After a few months as Steward Fallon McCraig stepped away from the position, which was filled by Viscount Liah Stavros.
~~~
I fear I know not who once started this account of the Muncie history, but it is now time to update those who have just awoken or returned. It has been some time since Alder Protoculus departed out courts, which left the Imperium to fend for itself and be pulled back and forth in the talons of power hungry kindred. His whereabouts and fate are unknown and in his absence the imperium came to know chaos. Signed, Jonathan Hannibal
December 2013, The Invictus still have a strangle hold on the kindred population within Indiana. The accounts we have received state that the Invictus also make up the majority of kindred within the surrounding states, the only exception being Illinois. Kindred society is still reeling from the mass exodus of our kind from the threats that once threatened us; the VII, Brood society, Hunters, and Stryx.
Scores of our kind have escaped the turmoil of the world, fleeing to caves and small communities that prove less demanding of our time. The others cling to cities and yet do not attend the monthly gatherings anymore, for fear of the next attack. Of course the Invictus prove stalwart in holding their grasp, partly due to the McGreggors and their endless resolve and grab for something related to order and dominance.
I am sure the tart and pompous would scorn me if they read these next words, but our kind still prove fascinating. We are like cockroaches, scattering when the light appears and slowly coming back out once it is safe. Where other species and less evolved kine may have died, we prove our power through our survival. Signed, Jonathan Hannibal
March 2014, It has been some time since I updated this account and it would appear that the initial accounts were correct for Indiana at least. The Invictus do have a strangle hold on our population, though our rulers are not as oppressive as they once were in recent days. The number of missing kindred has escalated beyond what we ever thought possible though, with the most influential members of our society being discovered as ash or worse. Still, there are pockets of kindred all over the states and the number of lesser known members has not dwindled to drastically.
The mortals here have been acting oddly, I have personally seen a man and woman looking at me in a way I haven’t seen before—like prey. It is an odd feeling seeing our food look at us as prey or victims, it is almost like some know what we are and yet I know of no grand masquerade breach that has occurred in recent months. Still, it is disheartening to know that something may be happening that I do not know of quite yet.
Still, I can’t take my eyes off of the female. I see the pair, I mentioned before, everywhere … and perhaps I will collect a new toy. Signed, Jonathan Hannibal
May 2014, Our society is once again flourishing, which means the cracks and holes must once more be sealed. Travel is not forbidden but no aid is given to those brave enough to venture the wilds; the damned nomads are always a fickle bunch though. In truth I have nothing but disdain for them, wretched creatures that are more worried with finding answers on the road than they are helping restructure our precious society.
Word has recently reached my ears that Muncie will be to hold its first gathering in short time! It may not be the grand event it was in past years, but in time I am sure it will prosper. They are filling their social ranks, appointing a new prince after the fall of the Imperium. Oh, the fall. Yes, before I forget to mention it.
It was discovered that Alder Protoculus sought out some gangrel named “The Unholy”. I do not know details but it would appear he destroyed this kindred, before feasting on it’s blood, committing our greatest sin. With that news, the Imperium lost backing! Of course the Invictus are still in power, what is new?
With all that out of the way, i’m going to tend to my new toy. She is so very adorable and precious to me, even her partner has some use to me. I haven’t yet tasted her blood but I have not felt the need, yet … when I try to feed on another it feels as if I am being disloyal. It is hard to explain, either way this may be my last entry for the next month or two. Signed, Jonathan Hannibal (The name Jon-Jon has been erased from the paper)
