Jean gives her a thin smile and takes the offered tools. He moves over to one of the walls and starts to work on patching some of the smaller holes with the scraper and the paste. He sets too it as if he knows what he is doing. "Well, you could just owe me one. But I would guess that you would prefer to pay me right now."
He glances over his shoulder at her as he seals a patch. "I deal in information. There are many ways I can learn what I want to know, but my preferred method is to have people give it to me freely. Why don't you start talking and I'll tell you when to stop. If you tell me something interesting, something important, something I didn't already know, then I will be paid in full." He turns back to the wall and continues to work.

Angela sat on the wooden chair, a line of wire draped across her lap. She started stripping the wire, pealing the rubber body away as easily as pealing a fruit.
"The shadows have scattered. Muncie is no longer guarded and we can finally leave the perimeters of the city without fear of being attacked by shadow beasts." She looked at the ends of conductive parts, frowning as she would have to replace the wiring in the light fixture. Standing, Angela fetched the wire and started from the very beginning in the rewiring process.
"Ainsworth is investing in Montesori's club, if financial politics interest you." Angela watched as Jean pushed the caulking against the wall, before Angela stood and went to show him how to smooth out the paste. "Scrap the iron over the caulking until its a smooth surface." She showed him once before handing it back.
"Look, I'm not much of a social butterfly." Angela leaned against the dry wall and started threading the wiring through the rubber body.
"So how about, I owe you one." Truth be told. she already did. But no need to remind Jean of that.

"You already owe me one," Jean says smoothly, as if reading her mind. "And trust me when I say, you do not want to be too much in my debt." He grins, bemused when she shows him how to use the trowel on the patches.
"I don't really care much for politics or polite society. Tell me more about these shadows. Did you learn anything useful from your interactions with them?"

"Then I'll owe you, two." Angela pulled the remaining wire through and protective body.
"They were beasts. This kindred was able to pull our beasts from our bodies...or at least a shadow version of our beasts. Either way, they hit hard and we barely got out of that place in one piece." Angela pushed off the wall; thoughts of that candy skull bitch was enough to chill her already cold body. Hell, she still had nightmares about it. Angela pulled the crimping pliers from her back pocket and started working on the wire.
"She...It was old. Ancient, maybe. I wasn't able to get a blood sample and test it." There came the smart mouth, the anger that pushed away all that fear.
"But at the end of it all, she was eviscerated in a bolt of lightening." Angela stopped and stared at the tool in her hands, her thoughts drifting suddenly, before pulling herself back to the job at hand.
"It'd be our luck the bitch isn't even dead."

Jean turns to look at her, a strange expression on his face. "A bolt of lightning, you say? That seems a bit deus ex machina. Was that just a coincidence, or did someone call down this bolt of lightning from the heavens?" From the sound of his voice, Jean does not seem to entirely believe her.

"I don't think it was that... I don't know what it was. It was bright and it took her." Angela rubbed the back of her neck as if the inky black fingers of her own beast tickled her neck.
"I really don't give a damn what it was, Jean. But it saved our asses. Whether it was by our hand or something else."

"Hmm," he says as he turns back to the wall. Jean is quiet for a moment as he continues working.
"There is a modern saying. 'Don't hate the player, hate the game.' It is a wise sentiment, even if it was coined by a bunch of idiots. If I were playing a game, I would want to know the rules. And if someone came in and changed the rules suddenly, I would want to know that as well. Bolts of lightning might be considered a change in game plans." He shrugs and continues working.

"I was more concerned with escaping in one piece then analyzing the how, or why she died in the manner in which she did." Angela tossed the wire on to the near by chair and started on another branch of wires.
"I'll be sure to take notes next time." She cut the wire and started threading.
"Have you ever heard of anything like this before?"

Jean is thoughtful for a moment. "I would surmise that the 'bolt of lightning' that you saw was not actually lightning. It was more likely the closing of a seal or portal. Strong magics often look similar to natural phenomena. I think I would have liked to have seen that."

Angela frowned, "s closing. Like an escape route?" That chilled her a bit.
"Because of the portal closing or being destroyed, we now have the ability to leave the city." She managed to look intrigued, by the whole portal thing. An expression that was quite charming. Angela always had an interest in the Occult. Being a kindred that kind of went hand and hand.

"Some doors close, others open. Let's hope the way stays open for us, and closed for our enemies." He returns to his work on the wall as he continues.
"What is it exactly that you do, Angela? I assume you have some way to fund this house you are working on."

"Currently, nothing. Some nights, I work security at the Orchid, but mostly I walk." Angela watched Jean plaster the wall; he wasn't bad at home repair.
"I took out a loan." Angela smiled and went back to threading the wire.

Jean chuckles lightly. "You must not mind being in another's debt. Tell me about the Orchid. I take it other Kindred spend quite a lot of time there."

"Debt is life. Being alive or dead doesn't change that." Angela climbed the latter she had fixed in positioned before leaving. The place was becoming her own. She worked to improve it, and while she didn't have many material goods, Jean could tell she was simple woman, who didn't need much to get by.
"Does it surprise you that I'm not swimming in wealth?" She gathered the wires from the ceiling and started pulling out the old wiring. "After all, I did tell you I could't pay you."
