Is the source mentioned in the subject line used for anything in this game? I'd never heard about it until I ran a google search on a rule and saw some people mentioning it appending some existing rules. Anyone able to bring me up to speed?

My opinion, briefly, is that it's an amazing and much-needed rules update that gives vampires back their teeth. I don't believe it's currently being used at all in this game currently, - it's essentially Requiem 2nd Edition (and will be released as such soon), and has some pretty substantial basic (and I think good) changes to how the system works. I don't think Lucas has had time to go through it.

In spite of losing one of the most terrifying aspects of my character, this new system does appear to be pretty neat. There's a lot of new material in there that makes me go "whoa" and seems to pay more homage to the oWoD while still driving things forward. I haven't read through the whole thing yet, but I would be willing to entertain the transition.

As of this moment ... (READ ALL OF THIS PLEASE) I'm leaning towards implementing the system, but doing so slowly over a few weeks and such. It won't be for a little bit though, as the STs all have to familiarize themselves with the material and get use to it. Once we can get everything down pat, we'll have to run character sheet audits and reworks.
Some key points to keep in mind with character sheet remakes ...
Do I have to? • Yes, you'll need to suffer through this.
Will you help? • Yes, we will help you along the way.
Will this change my character? • Yes, your stuff has likely changed.
Have you decided about bloodlines? • No, I have not decided on bloodlines yet.
Can we keep stuff from the present system, like disciplines and what have you? • No, at this moment we won't be including stuff from the system we are current using (protean 3 will not include claws for example).
What about the story and theme of the world, has it all changed? • No, the story has mostly stayed the same flavor wise.
Now, onto the best part ...
I will start a thread soon for people to discuss and talk about this. Please keep in mind that arguments will not be tolerated. Discussion yes, but the moment any words fly that seem insulting or such ... i'll shut it down, stick it in a barrel, make a thread-smoothie, and than force fed it down your gullet. The point of this discussion will be to get a feeling on how players feel about the new book. Just because I said it is likely, does not mean it will happen if the majority of the forum wants to stay with the current system.
^_^
Look for that thread soon (tomorrow/tuesday or such)

Pg 110 Claws of the Unholy Merit, it appears you can still have your claws, just spend some extra points for them.
EDIT: just flipped the page, they only do this while you frenzy apparently

Lol Lucas and I found that last night. We've been scouring the books looking for our toys. Though it seems like they took a lot of stuff away, they did add it back it, but you have to look for it and it may not actually work the same way.
That's ok, claws can quite frankly be a little OP, just by virtue of causing agg.

Lot of interesting stuff here that I appreciate. Biggest curiosity thusfar is how implementing it affects other supplements.

Well, what will most likely happen ... is that we'll probably add quite a few bloodlines to the 'not allowed' list.
Now granted, for some bigger bloodlines that are all over the core books not expressly in the core book ... we'll likely allow those.
The book list i'm considering at this moment will be
• Smoke & Blood • Covenant Books • Clan Books • Monsters from various books that don't conflict with material in the core book (So Apryl, Grace, and Dan have plenty of room to play)
