"Of course, Madame," the knight bows. Settling back into the comfortably overstuffed leather cushions, the old man folds his fingers neatly. Cold, riveting blue eyes shine with inquisitiveness. "Your research, Madam Mason? It must take a focused mind to study in a place so - energetic - as this." Peals of laughter and waves of conversation rumble over the lavish harmonies of the music, punctuated by clinking glasses and silverware.

"Oh, I'm just looking at different aerial loops fir different routines. The hustle and bustle actually helps." She answers taking a sip of her hot spiced apple cider.

"Ah, what sort of aircraft do you pilot?" the old man inquires, eyes flashing with interest. To keep up appearances, he pretends to take a sip of his whiskey, letting the stuff splash against his closed lips. The amber liquor burns there, filling his nostrils with the scent of brine and salt.

She smiles brightly "Oh no, I am an aerial performer." she says and turns the ipad towards him and plays a short video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2cZx8lTbKM Quinn watches the video her abused eyes sparkling with wonder and entracement at the performance on the screen. "I'm not nearly that good, but I hope to be. Ive been practicing a lot lately." she says her voice breathy from being seduced by the video.

"Have you," Malcolm says, marveling at the unusual display. It was like something from a traveling circus. "How surprising." He would have thought this woman more suited for the sideshow, biting off chicken heads, rather than swinging from a hoop. "What attracted you to - aerial acrobatics?"

She shuts the ipad and turns more to face the gentleman in front of her "I was in an avant-garde fashion show in San Fransisco and they had some preforming and other preforming with aerial ribbons. I fell in love. It's so expressive and freeing." she says with clear passion for the art form, the one green eye sparkling.

While so much of the past had faded to dour greys, Malcolm could vividly remember the first time he had witnessed an expert display of his own favored art form. "I understand," he states, and his neatly-laced fingers tighten around one another like an ash tree's gnarled roots. "From what does this free you? What do you express when you perform? Or perhaps I should patiently await your next performance."

Her one green eye goes dark and she looks at her lap, after a short moment she looks back up at Sir Malcolm-Bennett Gray "It frees me from darkness in my past, I would invite you to a performance but I do not have a local venue as of yet. I just shortly arrived in town." she answers honestly.

'It frees me from darkness in my past.' How darling.
"Is that so?" the old man says. He does not smile, but there is something mirthful in his tone. "Perhaps I may be of assistance in arranging an opportunity. What would an appropriate performance space require for such a unique display?"

"A place such as this, a burlesque club or even a hotel." she says flipping open her Ipad, clicking a few buttons. Pulling up a website to view different outfits for her aerial act. "But may I ask, why you would like to help? We have only just met." she says curious to his answer.

The elderly man considers the question carefully, cold eyes fixed on the girl before him. "It frees me from the darkness of my past," the elderly man finally replies - somehow managing to keep a straight face at the ludicrous statement. "Additionally, it is my duty to preserve particular places of intellectual interest or cultural enrichment for our community. Enforcing the peace, scheduling events, and so forth."

Her eyes brighten a bit "Oh. Well then, I welcome your assistance gratefully." she says and takes another slow sip of her drink. Feeling the heat draw into her hands, she feels content in this environment.

"I wonder, why are you here?" he asks, leaving the question abundantly open-ended. "Is Muncie known for its aerial acrobatics?" Malcolm's eyes follow Quinn's glass, both horrified and perplexed by the sight.

"Not that I am aware, but it is only a hobby and not a living. I have an acquaintance that lives in town and I needed a new view." she says telling a half truth. She blinks with a smile, looking out onto those that had gathered. Enjoying the mix and mingle of the lounge, it was something she was used to.
"What about you? What brought you to Muncie or is this your hometown?" she asks, tit for tat.

The man's lips thin with disapproval. "No," he says curtly. "This is not my - hometown. I am here only because this region has become disorderly."
"As in clockwork, the wheels and pinions, the pendulums and levers of our society must operate properly, lest the mechanism be destroyed beyond repair." Malcolm's grey-blue eyes flicker by candlelight, as he wonders whether she fits within the machine he maintains.
